This resource is an entire scheme of work for KS3. There are 19 lessons in total, aimed to cover a half-term of teaching. Each PowerPointed lesson has a learning objective, starter activity, plenary and many have homework tasks included. The front page for each lesson is to help with teacher planning and details what skills are being covered, resources required and whether homework is being set. The included Word documents are the worksheets required to deliver some of the activities. There is one activity in the scheme that is differentiated for weaker students where more information has been given to help scaffold the intended task. This scheme of work covers the original APP standards for both Reading and Writing, but this can be applied to the new assessment standards in place. The activities across the scheme of work intend to cover all areas of Reading, Writing, with two Speaking and Listening activities as well. Pride and Prejudice character matching exercise

Pride and Prejudice character matching exercise

(1)
This resource is a matching exercise. Students need to match character descriptions and quotes to a range of key characters in the novel. There are about 80 boxes in the end so this resource is ideal for group work or a potential Speaking and Listening assessment. The answers file gives clues at the end to indicate how many descriptions and quotes there are for each character. This resource has been used with a student on a one-to-one basis and encouraged discussion of the plot, characters and themes. It also generated a useful revision resource once completed because the character matches are similar to mini-character profiles. Practice questions for the iGCSE English Core Reading Paper 1, using an extract from 'Frankenstein' as stimulus. This selection of questions follows a similar structure and wording as a typical iGCSE paper, but just uses one text - ideal for students getting started in preparation for the exam. Mark schemes are included for both the Reading and Writing questions: the Reading answers are suggested as guidance and do not necessarily include all possible answers. The Writing mark scheme is taken directly from the Core mark scheme guidance and can be applied to this resource. Resource will allow students to work through practice questions, both independently and with teacher direction. The starter task allows students to understand the stimulus extract and ask questions about unknown words, for what is a potentially challenging text.
